What is Festival Day?
On Festival Day, each division (1st grade and up) will play in small-sided 3v3 or 5-a-side tournaments. The games will be played on smaller fields and will have fewer players per team. This format means that each child gets more touches on the ball and more scoring chances. The games are fast-paced, high-scoring, and fun!

Spring 2026 Season

Overview

Games will be held on Saturday mornings March 21 through April 25. Our Spring Festival Day will be held on April 11 and will include fast-paced, small-sided games played in a tournament-style format. Practices (1st grade and up) will be held on weeknights 1-2 times per week, beginning in early-mid March (as determined by each coach). Pre-K and Kindergarten will not have set weeknight practices. They will have Saturday morning sessions with a 30-minute practice followed by a 30-minute game.

Weather/Field Related Cancellations

The City of Carbondale owns and maintains the Superblock soccer fields. If rain or field conditions make the fields unusable, the City will notify Carbondale Jr. Sports by 7:30 am on scheduled game days. If games are cancelled, families will be notified as soon as possible by email or text, and cancellations will also be posted on the Carbondale Junior Sports Facebook page.

In general, we still play in heat, cold, and light rain. However, games will be postponed or canceled in the event of lightning or if the heat index or wind chill falls outside IHSA safety guidelines.

Location

All games and practices are held at the Carbondale Superblock Soccer Fields.

About Our Program

We offer fall and spring recreational youth soccer for boys and girls in Pre-K (age 4) through 8th grade. We focus on creating a fun environment where kids of all skill levels can learn and enjoy the game of soccer.

As a volunteer-driven program, our coaches are parents and community members who are passionate about helping kids grow, both on and off the field.

Post Season

CJS Soccer also offers possible post-season opportunities through All-Star teams for 1st grade and up. Potential All-Star tournaments for Spring 2026 include:

• Cape Spring Classic (Cape Girardeau, MO) – May 16-17, 2026
